F.A.Q

Why did you start this blog?
Originally it was to inform my family and close friends about what was going on with us and my pregnancy. We had endured almost five, long and painful years of infertility and found out in November of 2010 that we were expecting triplets.  It was nice to be able to have a place to talk about the pain that had come prior to successful fertility treatments. I was very quiet about this pain for so long and letting out was like opening the gates of a damn.

What clinic did you use?
First, we used a very popular one in Austin,Texas and found that it was a manipulative game of squeezing dollars out of hopeful couples(no, I'm not bitter ;) Then we found the most incredible doctor ever. Dr. Saleh. www.haveababy.com. They have offices in Dallas, Texas and in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is located in Dallas. He and his nurse became like family to us. They wanted us to get pregnant. No games, no gimmicks, just a baby...or three.

How many embryos did you put in?
We put in three. The embryologist suggested the best two. She said, one was excellent, one was good and the other wasn't good at all. She said it wouldn't make it to freeze. She suggested we dispose of it. I couldn't. She said Dr. Saleh might not agree to three, we will see. He did! I often joke with everyone about who's idea it was to put in three????

How many weeks did you carry your triplets?
I carried them for 29 weeks. I lost a total of 60 pounds during my pregnancy(lol, yes, I'm proud!) Ha, I was just very sick to my stomach with the amount of estrogen running through my body. I felt great and worked the day I went into labor. I always wanted a Fourth of July baby. I had three memorial day weekend babies. God is funny.

Did your triplets stay in the NICU?
Yes, nine almost ten weeks. It was hard. They weighed, 2.8, 2.10 & 2.12. They were tiny and some days it was a fight. They suffered from NEC, a horrible condition of the bowel that is common in preemies. Not our finest hours. The staff in the Hillcrest NICU in Waco, Texas were the finest nurses and doctors that a parent could ask for. They saved my babies...and their mother on more than one occasion.

How do you do it? You must be so tired!
We came home on a schedule and we have stayed on a schedule. We have tons of family, great friends and the best nanny you could ask for. She is like our fourth child! Of course, there are long days, but for the most part they sleep like angels and are very predictable. I think we wanted them so bad that even if it was bad- we wouldn't care.

How many diapers, wipes and formula do you go through each week?
We use about 20 diapers a day and at least one can of formula. A case of wipes last about a week and a half to two weeks. It's hard. We depend on sweet family and friends for gifts of diapers and discounts on formula!

Do you still make time for yourselves? Your marriage?
Yes! It's key. At first it was hard. And still I find myself feeling very guilty for leaving them. Our nanny(A) lives with us and as part of our arrangement we get one date night a week. We recently met with a few new babysitters for the occasional weekend night out. Triplets are hard to the outsider. I find that I only trust A for overnights. She knows the schedule well and does it just like I do. Making time for yourself is just as important. I have been trying to do one thing with my girlfriends each week. This doesn't always happen, but a movie on a Sunday is almost a must!
